Taloja police have arrested three family members in connection with the tragic dowry death of 21-year-old Vaishali Pawar, who died by suicide at her in-laws’ home in Trimbak Sankul, Navade village, Taloja node on Tuesday morning.
The arrested accused include her husband Umesh Pawar, and his parents, Ramesh and Aruna Pawar. The police acted swiftly within 12 hours after Vaishali’s father, Vinayak Rathod, lodged a complaint alleging harassment and dowry demands.
Vaishali reportedly died by suicide between 9:00 am and 9:30 am while her husband and in-laws were away. She was alone in the bedroom with her infant and other children playing in the living room. The bedroom was locked from inside, and she was found dead when the parents-in-law returned and broke open the door.
A preliminary accidental death report had been filed initially. Following her father’s complaint, the police registered an FIR under the BNS Act for dowry death and common intention.
Authorities are also investigating the roles of Vaishali’s sisters-in-law, Sonu and Neha Rathod, along with Neha’s husband, Krishna Rathod. They have not been arrested yet, but their involvement in the case is under scrutiny.
The arrested trio has been remanded to police custody until November 1 as the investigation continues.
