GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — September 12, 2025 (12:40 p.m.) — A Gastonia woman has been arrested following a large-scale fentanyl trafficking investigation by the Gaston County Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit.
According to investigators, Demetria Ronika Blackmond, 34, has been charged with 23 felony counts connected to the distribution of fentanyl. Authorities say the operation involved more than 3,000 illicit pressed pills and over 250 grams of fentanyl powder distributed throughout Gaston County.
Police warned that pressed fentanyl pills pose a lethal threat, noting, “Even one pill can kill, especially if a person doesn’t know what’s in it.”
The Gaston County Police Department emphasized that its continued efforts to combat drug trafficking aim to create a safer community through proactive and strategic investigations.
Blackmond is currently being held in the Gaston County Jail under a $925,000 bond. No further information has been released at this time.
