The main accused in the recent youth murder case in Kanpur Dehat was injured during a police encounter on Wednesday. A police team arrested Trishi Katiyar following an exchange of fire near Angadpur village under the Baraur police station limits. He was later admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The case stems from the October 26 murder of Pradeep Sharma alias Sukka (25), a resident of Angadpur village. His body was discovered dumped on the Kanpur–Etawah highway near Balharamau village in the Derapur police station area.
According to the complaint filed by Sharma’s family, Trishi Katiyar and Ishu Katiyar allegedly took Pradeep from his home in a car before killing him and abandoning his body on the highway.
Police received a tip-off on Wednesday that Trishi was planning another crime. When officers surrounded the area, the accused opened fire, prompting the police to retaliate. Trishi was injured in the crossfire and taken into custody.
ASP Rajesh Kumar Pandey confirmed that the injured accused was hospitalized and that raids are ongoing to arrest the absconding Ishu Katiyar.
