PALM COAST, Fla. — A 19-year-old Palm Coast woman was arrested after she admitted to being the suspect in a credit card theft that targeted a senior citizen, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO).
The suspect, Brynn Gifford, was accused of stealing a credit card left behind at Palm Nails, located near the Island Walk Publix on Palm Coast Parkway.
The victim reported on August 9 that she had accidentally left her card at the business three days earlier. By then, she had discovered ten fraudulent transactions at multiple stores and restaurants totaling over $500.
Detectives with the FCSO’s General Assignment Unit launched an investigation and reviewed surveillance footage from the nail salon and several businesses where the card was used. The suspect — a white female with long dark hair wearing a white camouflage jacket — was captured on video.
On September 23, the sheriff’s office released a photo of the suspect to social media, seeking the public’s assistance in identifying her. The post caught the attention of Gifford herself, who reportedly contacted FCSO that same day to admit she was the person in the image.
Gifford later met with detectives at the District 2 office on Old Kings Road, initially denying any wrongdoing. However, when shown surveillance footage of her using the stolen card at Walmart to buy notebooks and pens, she admitted to the crime and even produced the items from her backpack.
Investigators learned that Gifford worked as a receptionist at Palm Nails, confirming that she had access to the victim’s misplaced card.
A warrant was issued for her arrest on October 15, and she was taken into custody in Daytona Beach by the Daytona Beach Police Department, with assistance from the FCSO Fugitive Unit.
Gifford faces multiple charges, including:
Fraudulent use of personal identification of a person over 60
Fraudulent use of a credit card more than twice in six months
Petit theft
She was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail on October 16 and released shortly after posting a $4,000 bond.
