A 42‑year‑old constable, E Pramod, was tragically stabbed to death on October 17 in Nizamabad city while transporting the accused Sheikh Riyad to the police station. Pramod was escorting Riyad on a two‑wheeler when Riyad allegedly attacked him in the chest between 8:30 pm and 9 pm and fled the scene.
According to officials, Riyad is a habitual offender implicated in vehicle thefts and chain snatching. The police have launched an intensive manhunt to apprehend him. Telangana DGP B Shivadhar Reddy expressed profound grief over the loss of the “sincere and duty‑minded constable” and directed the Nizamabad Commissioner to set up special teams. The Multi‑Zone‑I IGP has also been tasked to closely monitor the investigation. Families of officers are being supported and authorities say strict action will be taken.
