GREENSBURG, Pa. – A second individual has been charged in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars from an elderly inmate at the Westmoreland County Prison. Tina Curry, 34, was arrested on Wednesday and faces charges of theft and receiving stolen property.

According to police, Curry worked as an assistant for attorney John Roth, who had represented the elderly inmate. Roth was previously arrested after he promised to help the inmate with her legal matters, asking for a $2,500 fee in return. Two days after the agreement was signed, Roth allegedly appointed Curry to manage the inmate’s affairs under a power of attorney agreement.

Over the following weeks, Curry made numerous withdrawals from the victim’s bank account, totaling over $31,000. Police stated that Curry visited Citizens Bank in Greensburg 14 times, withdrawing large sums of money. On several occasions, she mentioned meeting Roth at Live! Casino in Greensburg, where she allegedly used the stolen funds for gambling. Additionally, Curry attempted to buy a vehicle using a cashier’s check obtained with the stolen money.

The victim later reported that Roth never represented her in any legal matters, and his promises to secure her release from jail were never fulfilled. Curry’s arrest follows Roth’s earlier charge related to this ongoing case of fraud.

Curry is currently facing charges, and the investigation remains open as police continue to gather evidence related to the theft and its connection to Roth’s role in the scheme.
