In a shocking incident, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Amravati Rural Police has arrested Shubham Hatwar (28) and his wife for allegedly murdering a 26-year-old woman involved in an extramarital affair with Shubham. The murder was staged as a railway accident to evade suspicion.
Shubham, a resident of Dangripura in Chandur Railway, along with his wife Pooja, was apprehended following the discovery of the victim’s body on railway tracks on October 15. The victim, who was staying at her brother’s home due to marital disputes, was reported missing that morning. Initial reports suggested a tragic train accident; however, medical examination revealed strangulation marks on her neck, raising concerns about foul play.
A postmortem report confirmed the death was not a suicide, prompting Superintendent of Police Vishal Anand to order a detailed investigation. Led by PSI Mulchand Bhamburkar, the LCB team interrogated family members and acquaintances, uncovering evidence of the victim’s relationship with Shubham.
During interrogation, Shubham confessed that the victim had pressured him to leave his wife, leading to domestic tension. Together with his wife Pooja, he lured the victim to their home, strangled her, and staged the body on the railway tracks to mask the murder as an accident.
The motive behind the crime was the victim’s persistent demands for marriage, which strained Shubham’s married life.
The investigation was conducted under the guidance of SP Vishal Anand, Additional SP Pankaj Kumawat, SDPO Ashok Thorat, and Inspector Kiran Wankhade, with key contributions from PSI Mulchand Bhamburkar and his team.
