Suspects accused of “jackpotting” Clear Fork Bank ATM

by Sophia Bennett

ALBANY, Texas — Two Venezuelan nationals were arrested early Thursday morning in Albany after being accused of stealing money from an ATM at Clear Fork Bank.

According to the Shackelford County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 3:40 a.m. on October 16 to reports of suspicious activity at the bank’s drive-through. Upon arrival, deputies discovered multiple suspects engaged in the theft.

Oliveres Davila Luis Jose and Silva Guette Eliober were arrested as they attempted to flee the scene. Authorities also spotted another vehicle nearby with additional individuals believed to be involved.

Investigators say the suspects used a technique known as “jackpotting,” a sophisticated method that allows criminals to manipulate ATMs into dispensing cash illegally. While a substantial amount of money was stolen, the exact total has not been disclosed.

Officials confirmed both men are asylum seekers and emphasized that there is no evidence they are in the United States illegally. The investigation remains ongoing.
