An elderly couple suffered serious injuries after being brutally attacked by their son, Raghupal Reddy, following a family dispute at their Gandipet residence in Narsingi on Wednesday night.
According to police officer Gopi Sriram, Raghupal, who lives with his parents Ravinder Reddy and Bharati, has been experiencing mental health challenges and had frequent arguments with them in recent months.
On Wednesday night, neighbors reported hearing loud screams from the apartment. Police responded promptly and found the couple bleeding, immediately transferring them to a private hospital for emergency treatment.
Investigations revealed that while the parents were asleep, Raghupal allegedly used a vegetable peeler to cause severe injuries by trying to peel their skin. Both victims are currently unable to communicate, and the accused has yet to disclose his motive.
Raghupal Reddy was taken into custody, and a case of attempted murder has been filed. The police are preparing to send him for judicial remand while continuing their investigation into the incident.
