FARGO, N.D. — Three Fargo residents were arrested after being found unconscious in a car containing fentanyl, methamphetamine, and stolen property, according to court records.

On September 25 around 5:35 a.m., a Fargo police officer responding to a disturbance in the 900 block of 6th Avenue North noticed a green spray-painted vehicle without license plates. Inside, three individuals appeared to be passed out.

The officer observed tin foil with burnt narcotic residue on two of their laps, a sign of fentanyl use, and saw that the car keys were still in the ignition.

After backup arrived, the three were identified as Jacob Wetch, Blake Bueng, and Shyla Kaiawe-Lopes. Wetch and Bueng were detained without incident, though powdered fentanyl reportedly fell off Bueng as he was removed from the vehicle. Kaiawe-Lopes resisted arrest but was eventually restrained.

A search of the car uncovered drug paraphernalia in the driver’s area, a backpack containing meth in the rear hatch, and both methamphetamine and fentanyl in the back seat. Officers also found two license plates and numerous stolen power tools.

Wetch, identified as the car’s owner, faces charges of theft and two felony drug possession counts. Bueng is charged with two counts of possession, while Kaiawe-Lopes faces two felony possession charges and one misdemeanor for obstructing an officer.

All three were taken into custody as the investigation continues.
