FARGO, N.D. — Orlando Harris, 40, a Fargo resident, was arrested on November 11, 2024, following a report of a stolen vehicle in the 1700 block of 14th St. S.
According to the Fargo Police Department, officers responded to the call and learned that the victim’s husband had located the stolen vehicle nearby. He reported seeing a man exit the car and provided officers with a description of the suspect and his fleeing direction. The suspect was later identified as Orlando Harris.
Upon locating Harris, Officer Duggan informed him that he was being detained. During the detention, Harris voluntarily disclosed that he was carrying a sword in his waistband and had methamphetamine in his possession. A subsequent search revealed a 12-inch knife, as well as drug paraphernalia.
When questioned about the stolen vehicle, Harris gave conflicting statements. However, after further investigation, officers established probable cause to arrest him.
Harris was charged with:
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2nd offense)
In addition to these charges, officers discovered that Harris had an outstanding U.S. Marshals warrant for probation revocation, stemming from a previous robbery conviction.
Harris was booked into Cass County Jail, where he is being held pending further proceedings. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 19, 2024.
As with all criminal defendants, Harris is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
