MOORE COUNTY, N.C. — Omari Grant, 36, of Cameron, is facing multiple felony charges after a large-scale drug investigation by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office uncovered over 3,800 grams of cocaine and marijuana, along with several firearms. The investigation, which involved assistance from the Nash County Sheriff’s Office, culminated in a search and seizure operation in the Vass area on July 2, 2024.
According to Sheriff Ronnie Fields, the investigation began in the 4500 block of Lobelia Road in Vass, where detectives conducted a vehicle search. The search led to the seizure of 1,587.5 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm.
Following this, authorities executed a second search at a residence on Hillmon Grove Road in Cameron, located near the Harnett County border. There, investigators seized 3,703.7 grams of suspected marijuana, $13,902 in cash, and 2,251.3 grams of suspected cocaine, bringing the total amount of suspected cocaine seized to 3,838.8 grams.
As a result of the bust, Omari Grant has been charged with:
- Felony trafficking in cocaine by possession
- Felony trafficking in cocaine by transport
- Possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine
- Felony possession of cocaine
- Maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for controlled substances
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Carrying a concealed firearm
Grant is currently being held at the Moore County Detention Center under a 48-hour hold, as per HB813, a law that went into effect in October 2023. He is scheduled to appear in Moore County District Court on July 31.
As with all criminal defendants, Grant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
