ROCKFORD, IL — Two suspects have been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of 37-year-old Kyle Stephens, whose body was found early Tuesday morning under the Whitman Street Bridge.
According to a press release from the Rockford Police Department, officers responded to a noise complaint around 3:25 a.m. on October 7. Upon arrival, they discovered Stephens suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
After an investigation by Rockford Police Violent Crimes Detectives, two individuals were identified as suspects in the deadly attack:
Varianna Parsons, 20, of Rockford — Charged with First-Degree Murder and Obstruction
Shawn Bunton Jr., 24, of Rockford — Charged with First-Degree Murder and Obstruction
Police confirmed that Parsons has been taken into custody and booked into the Winnebago County Jail. Bunton remains at large, and authorities are actively searching for him.
