GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) — The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of an Upstate man accused of trafficking large quantities of narcotics following an extensive investigation.
Authorities said Irby Jarrard Watkins was taken into custody by the Greenville County Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit (GCMDEU) after investigators uncovered a significant drug trafficking operation.
During the investigation, officers seized the following items:
21.64 pounds of marijuana
1,508.09 grams of cocaine
39.5 grams of heroin
563.32 grams of fentanyl
2 firearms
$4,176 in cash
A related search warrant executed in Duncan — with assistance from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, SLED, and the ATF — led to the seizure of an additional 521 grams of fentanyl.
Watkins faces multiple serious charges, including:
Trafficking cocaine (400 grams or more)
Four counts of trafficking cocaine (100–200 grams)
Trafficking cocaine (10 grams or more)
Trafficking fentanyl (28 grams or more)
Trafficking fentanyl (4–14 grams)
Three counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana
Trafficking marijuana (10–100 pounds)
Authorities described the case as one of the region’s most significant narcotics busts this year.
