A 28-year-old sales manager, Vikas Walecha, was stabbed to death during a late-night fight with a momo vendor in East Delhi’s Ghazipur area, police said on Thursday. His friend, Sumit Sharma, was also injured.
Following the incident, Delhi Police arrested three men — Salman Khan (24), Azad Mishra (31), and Monu Mishra (28) — along with a 13-year-old juvenile. All three adult accused reside in Khoda Colony, Ghaziabad.
The confrontation began during a birthday celebration on Wednesday night when Vikas mentioned a prior dispute with Salman Khan. The group then decided to confront him.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Abhishek Dhania, said, “Around 10:30 pm, the group reached the Paper Market near the Ghazipur CNG pump in three vehicles. Upon seeing Salman near a wine shop, they confronted him. Salman called his associates, leading to a violent fight where Vikas was fatally stabbed and Sumit suffered a fractured leg.”
Both Vikas and Sumit worked at a private company in Sector 5, Noida. Vikas, a resident of NIT Sector 5, Faridabad, was declared dead at LBS Hospital, where Sumit is undergoing treatment.
A case has been registered at Ghazipur police station based on the victim’s complaint.
