Florian Donatus Tegako, councillor for the Walvis Bay Rural constituency representing the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), has been arrested in connection with the alleged fraudulent use of the Erongo Regional Council’s credit card.
Tegako’s arrest comes amid ongoing political controversy. Despite a High Court ruling that removed him from his position as Chairperson of the Erongo Regional Council and reinstated SWAPO’s Benitha Imbamba, Tegako was controversially retained in the role for some time. Adding to his troubles, he was recently suspended by his own party, the IPC.
The details surrounding the alleged credit card fraud have not been fully disclosed, but the arrest marks a significant development in the political landscape of the Erongo region.
Authorities continue their investigation as Tegako faces potential legal consequences for the charges.
