Chandigarh, Sept 29: UT police arrested a 32-year-old man from Sector 38-A for allegedly attempting to smuggle heroin late Saturday night. The accused, identified as Robin alias Rohin, was produced before a local court and has been remanded to police custody for further questioning.
The arrest was made by a team from Maloya Police Station, who were conducting routine checks in the area. According to police, Robin was spotted approaching the checkpoint but tried to flee upon noticing the officers. A brief chase ensued, following which he was apprehended.
A personal search led to the recovery of 12.13 grams of heroin from his possession, police said. Officials are now investigating the source of the drugs and any potential links to a larger supply network.
Maloya police are continuing the interrogation to gather more details on the extent of Robin’s involvement in drug peddling.
