Minden, LA – A Walmart employee, Khalia Hudson, 20, was arrested Thursday in connection with the theft of more than $340 worth of merchandise from the Walmart store on Homer Road. Hudson, who is currently seven months pregnant, was taken into custody after loss prevention officers observed her stealing items from the store.
According to the Minden Police Department, Officer Anderson responded to the call at 4:58 p.m. Thursday, where loss prevention agent David Gears informed officers that Hudson had been seen taking items without paying. During an interview with Gears, Hudson admitted to stealing approximately $280 worth of goods previously, and an additional $60 worth of items on the day of her arrest.
In a body cam-recorded statement, Hudson confirmed the theft and explained that she had taken the items to fulfill household needs. Despite her pregnancy, Hudson was handcuffed in the front for her comfort, then transported to the Minden Police Department for booking.
Hudson faces charges for theft, but additionally, she had an outstanding warrant for simple criminal damage to property. She was transferred to the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center after failing to post bond.
This arrest highlights the ongoing vigilance of Walmart’s loss prevention teams in preventing theft and their swift action in working with local authorities to resolve such incidents.
