SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) — Two men have been taken into custody in connection with a double homicide that occurred early Saturday in Cleveland’s Slavic Village neighborhood.

Cleveland police have arrested Andrew Dillon, 33, and Richard Koballa, 45. According to authorities, Koballa was taken into custody Tuesday in Shaker Heights following a brief manhunt. Details surrounding Dillon’s arrest have not yet been released.

Both men face charges of aggravated murder.

Officials say the victims, Alissha Brown, 36, and Joseph Anthony Szymkowski III, 42, were found shot to death at the same residence — hours apart — on the 3600 block of East 59th Street.

Emergency services were first called to the scene around 2 a.m. Saturday, where Szymkowski was found with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead. Brown was later found fatally shot at the same address around 9:40 a.m.

No motive has been disclosed, and investigators are continuing to work on the case.

Councilmember Rebecca Maurer, who represents the area, issued a statement following the arrests:

“This case is horrifying and the violence in our community has been unacceptable. I’m grateful for the swift work of Cleveland Division of Police for making arrests that I hope allow our community rest a little easier this evening.”

The investigation remains active, and authorities have not yet confirmed if the victims were targeted or if there is a connection between the two shootings beyond the location.
