Three Rochester Men Charged in Mail Theft and Bank Fraud Scheme

Lamarious Bradley, Lucius Bradley, and Chad Brown face federal charges for mail theft and fraud

by Sophia Bennett

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Lamarious Bradley, Lucius Bradley, and Chad Brown were arrested and charged with mail theft, unlawful possession of USPS mailbox keys, and conspiracy to commit bank fraud. These charges carry a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and up to $1 million in fines.

According to court records, U.S. Postal Service inspectors launched an investigation after blue collection mailboxes were found open during early mornings on Nov. 28, 2023, in Irondequoit and Brighton. Surveillance footage captured a vehicle and three men near the sites.

On Dec. 4, inspectors again discovered an open mailbox in Irondequoit with mail missing. The suspects and vehicle were recorded once more.

Search warrants executed on Dec. 7 targeted a residence linked to the vehicle, the vehicle itself, and a business called Exclusive Snacks and Lounge, where the suspects reportedly went after stealing mail. Authorities recovered $1,400 in money orders, numerous stolen checks, a handgun, ammunition, marijuana, and video footage showing individuals sorting hundreds of pieces of mail.

Victims reported depositing stolen checks into USPS blue collection boxes, and text messages recovered during the investigation reportedly discussed the thefts.

The defendants appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark W. Pedersen. Lamarious and Lucius Bradley were released under conditions, while Chad Brown remains in custody.

The investigation is being conducted by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, along with police departments from Greece, Brighton, Irondequoit, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
