Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, two alleged peddlers were arrested on Thursday near Vichala Canal Bridge Road, and over 500 grams of methamphetamine—commonly known as crystal meth—was seized from their possession.

The suspects, Ashish (26) of Patti and Shivam (22) of Kandhai, were apprehended while allegedly planning to deliver the high-value consignment within the city.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepak Bhuker, the seized narcotics carry an estimated illicit market value of Rs5 crore. Both individuals have been booked under Section 22C of the NDPS Act and Section 207 of the MV Act.

SP Bhuker added that ongoing efforts are being made to dismantle the broader drug supply chain and identify local links associated with the traffickers. The arrests mark a key development in Pratapgarh police’s intensified anti-narcotics drive.
