A Centre County woman, Sabine Graham, 33, was arrested after Pennsylvania State Police discovered 248 bags of fentanyl during a traffic stop on Route 322 in Potter Township.
The trooper stopped a white Ford Escape on Sept. 23 at around 6 a.m. after witnessing the vehicle swerve off the road and clocking it at 61 mph in a 55 mph zone. Upon identifying the driver and passenger, officers noticed a glass pipe commonly used for methamphetamine or crack cocaine inside a cigarette pack.
After conflicting statements about their travel plans, the officers obtained consent to search the vehicle. Graham admitted to possessing fentanyl and surrendered some to police. A further search uncovered a black bag containing additional fentanyl bundles alongside her wallet.
Authorities say the quantity of fentanyl, totaling 248 stamp bags, indicates intent to distribute. Graham faces felony possession with intent to deliver, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.
Graham is being held at Centre County Prison after bail was denied over public safety concerns. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 1 before Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Koehle. The driver remains free of charges at this time.
