Dimitri Vorbe Detained by ICE in Florida Amid Legal Troubles

Haitian energy businessman held at Miami’s Krome North facility

Dimitri Vorbe, a prominent Haitian businessman, has reportedly been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Florida. According to ICE records, Vorbe is currently being held at the Krome North SPC detention facility in Miami.

Vorbe leads Société Générale d’Énergie S.A. (SOGENER), a major electricity generation company in Haiti. His career has been marked by disputes with the Haitian government over energy contracts, alongside allegations of corruption.

He has faced multiple legal challenges in both the United States and Haiti. These include previous arrests related to visa violations and accusations of corruption and money laundering. Notably, Vorbe was detained by ICE in Florida in August 2020 on visa issues but was released on bail.
