Devan Marshall Arrested for Arson and Attempted Murder in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Neb. — A Norfolk man, 36-year-old Devan Marshall, was arrested early Monday morning following an alleged arson that endangered the life of a resident inside the home.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., the Norfolk Fire Division responded to a house fire where the resident had already extinguished most of the flames, police reported. The resident was asleep inside the home when the fire, believed to be intentionally set, broke out.

Police obtained surveillance footage from a nearby residence showing a man carrying a gasoline can and a long-barreled firearm near the home. A neighbor identified the individual as Marshall, an acquaintance of the victim.

Marshall was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident. He now faces multiple charges, including first-degree arson, attempted first-degree murder, and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
