Chengannur police have arrested Jayaprakash, 57, of Cheriyanad, in connection with a murder case dating back 31 years.
The case involves the murder of 71-year-old Kuttappapanicker of Cheriyanad, which occurred in 1994. On the evening of November 15, 1994, at approximately 7:15 p.m., Jayaprakash allegedly attacked Kuttappapanicker with stones and his hands.
The victim succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital in Kottayam on December 4, 1994.
Police have reopened the cold case and made the arrest after extensive investigation.
