Jonathan Molina-Calderon, a former science teacher at Olathe West High School, was sentenced to three years of probation after pleading no contest to unlawful sexual relations with a student aged 16 or older. The offense occurred in October 2024.

Charges were filed on November 26, 2024, approximately one month after the incident. Molina-Calderon was arrested on December 19 in Kansas City and subsequently extradited to Kansas.

The Olathe School District confirmed Molina-Calderon was hired in August 2018 as an English Language Learning teacher specializing in science. He was terminated on November 7, 2024, following the allegations.

In response to the situation, the principal sent a letter to families, assuring them that a qualified long-term substitute would replace Molina-Calderon to support students and staff through the transition. The district emphasized its commitment to maintaining a positive learning environment for the remainder of the school year.
