MOCKSVILLE, NC — A man wanted for multiple child sex crimes in Maryland was arrested following a traffic stop in Mocksville last week, bringing an end to a four-year fugitive search.
Eugene Tapscott Allen, 44, was taken into custody by Davie County Sheriff’s narcotics officers on Sept. 9 after they stopped a vehicle on Yadkinville Road near I-40 for having a revoked license plate and no insurance.
Allen, who initially identified himself as “Allen El” and claimed his family was not from the U.S., could not be verified through any official databases. Detectives later uncovered his true identity, revealing a lengthy list of outstanding charges from Prince George’s County, Maryland, dating back to April 2021.
Allen now faces local charges, including:
Identity Theft
Carrying a Concealed Weapon
Open Container Violation in Vehicle
Providing False Information to Law Enforcement
Fugitive from Justice
He is currently held on a $152,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Davie District Court on Sept. 25.
