In a focused crackdown on drug trafficking, the Prohibition Enforcement Wing arrested three men from Odisha on Sunday for allegedly smuggling and distributing ganja in the Ingur area under Chennimalai police limits in Erode district, Tamil Nadu.
Acting on a tip-off, officers conducted surveillance near the Ingur flyover and intercepted two suspects in the act of exchanging a suspicious bag. Upon questioning, the men were identified as Mukesh Digal and Suraj Kumar, both residents of Odisha.
Following further inquiry, a third individual linked to the operation was also apprehended. All three suspects are now in custody.
The seized bag was found to contain ganja, a banned narcotic substance under the NDPS Act. Authorities believe the group was part of a larger network smuggling ganja from other states into Tamil Nadu.
Investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the drugs and identify other members involved in the trafficking ring.
