LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Raja Jackson, son of former UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, has been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and is facing a felony charge following a violent in-ring assault on a fellow performer.
The incident occurred during a pro wrestling event last month in Sun Valley, California. Video footage shared online shows Raja Jackson—himself a professional MMA fighter—storming the ring during another match. Jackson is seen lifting and slamming Stuart Smith, known in the ring as Syko Stu, before straddling him and repeatedly punching him in the face and head while Smith lay motionless.
Other wrestlers eventually pulled Jackson away, but the attack left Smith hospitalized. He was released on August 31, suffering from a serious head injury, trauma to both jaws, a lacerated upper lip, and a fractured maxilla, resulting in the loss of multiple teeth.
The video appeared to be livestreamed on the platform Kick, which has since banned Jackson’s account. CNN has not independently verified the footage but confirmed the ban through the platform.
The LAPD responded to the scene and initially filed a felony battery report, though Jackson had already fled. He was later arrested on Thursday and is currently held in Los Angeles County Jail on $50,000 bond. The specific felony charge has not been disclosed.
In the aftermath, Rampage Jackson publicly condemned his son’s actions, stating:
“I think that he should do a little time, do a little community service, and go to anger management class, seek some therapy.”
He also clarified that the act started as a planned segment in the show but escalated far beyond what was intended.
“He ain’t no f**king pro wrestler. The promoters had no reason putting my son in that ring,” Rampage told MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.
KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy, the event’s organizer, also distanced itself from the incident, stating:
“What was supposed to be a planned and agreed upon wrestling spot turned into a selfish, irresponsible act of violence… This egregious act is reprehensible and never should have occurred.”
The LAPD investigation is ongoing. No court date has yet been confirmed.
