RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) — Authorities arrested Crystal Gamble, 36, an employee at Richland Northeast High School, on Monday after she brought a firearm onto campus, according to Sheriff Leon Lott.

Around 7:30 a.m., a school metal detector alerted staff to the presence of a gun in Gamble’s bag. School Resource Officers quickly secured the firearm and detained her.

Officials confirmed Gamble legally owns the firearm but told deputies she had forgotten it was in her bag. She was charged with carrying a weapon on school property and taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
