CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. – An Elmira woman is facing multiple felony charges after a joint investigation into welfare fraud in Chemung County.
According to a press release from the Elmira Police Department, Elizabeth Deboe, 33, was arrested on September 8 and charged with:
Welfare Fraud in the Third Degree (Class D felony)
Grand Larceny in the Third Degree (Class D felony)
Two counts of Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree (Class E felony)
The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Chemung County Department of Social Services and Elmira Police. Authorities say Deboe submitted false documents to social services and illegally received $4,134 in SNAP benefits she was not eligible for.
Deboe was taken into custody and processed on the listed charges. Further details regarding her court date or legal representation have not been released at this time.
