Jarred Hamlett, a 34-year-old man from Poplar Bluff, Missouri, was arrested on November 7, 2024, facing at least five felony charges, including four counts of first-degree forgery and one count of theft of property valued between $5,000 and $25,000.
The charges stem from an investigation into fraudulent checks deposited at a local bank. According to Paragould police, the bank contacted authorities in June after discovering that Hamlett, a new customer who opened an account on May 29, had deposited four fraudulent checks. The first check was deposited after banking hours, with subsequent checks following until June 3.
Hamlett’s bank transaction history and ID were provided to the police by the bank. He is currently being held at the Greene County jail, awaiting a probable cause hearing in the case.
