Goa police arrested three individuals on Friday for allegedly cheating a woman of over Rs 9 lakh in a fake land sale scam involving comunidade property in Cunchelim.

According to North Goa Superintendent of Police Rahul Gupta, Rinki Rajesh Jha, a Cunchelim resident, filed a complaint that prior to June 10, 2025, Sumit Fadte (34), also from Cunchelim, along with Raju Mandrekar (50) of Camurlim and Rajaj Anthony (43) of Karaswada, persuaded her to buy plots measuring 270 square meters belonging to the Cunchelim comunidade.

The accused carried out financial transactions and allotted the plot to the complainant but failed to legally transfer ownership rights or return the payment, resulting in a loss of Rs 9.7 lakh for the victim.

The investigation was pursued rigorously, and the three accused were arrested and produced before the judicial magistrate first class in Mapusa. They have been remanded to four days of police custody as the probe continues.
