INDIO, Calif. (KESQ) — Two men have been arrested and charged in connection to the 2022 murder of Steven Matthew Sanchez in Indio, police announced.
The deadly shooting occurred on December 23, 2022, around 2:00 a.m. at a home on Grace Street, near Jackson Street and Highway 111. Responding officers found 44-year-old Sanchez dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
After an extensive investigation, Indio Police Department arrested Isaac Anthony Martinez, 21, on September 5, charging him with murder and accessory to a crime.
Just five days later, on September 10, police — with assistance from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office Gang Impact Team — located and arrested Efren David Bracamonte, also 21, in Thousand Palms. Bracamonte was charged with murder and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center.
Bracamonte has pled not guilty and is being held on $1 million bail. He is expected back in court later this month.
Charges against both men have been filed with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, according to Indio Police.
