Bengaluru – A warder at the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail has been arrested for smuggling narcotic substances into the prison premises. The accused, identified as Kallappa H Abachi, was caught red-handed with 100 grams of hashish oil hidden inside his uniform.
According to police sources, Kallappa, who was on night duty on September 7, was subjected to a routine check by the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) at the prison gate. Officers found hashish oil and tobacco concealed in his uniform pockets using cellotape.
Upon discovery, Kallappa was immediately detained and later handed over to the Parappana Agrahara Police, who formally arrested him and began an investigation.
Police are now probing the source of the narcotics and the potential network of inmates he may have been supplying to. Kallappa, a former defence personnel, joined the Department of Prisons and Correctional Services in 2008 and had been posted to Parappana Agrahara Jail only a few months ago.
His arrest has raised concerns about internal security and corruption within the jail system.
