TUSKEGEE, Ala. – One man is dead and a suspect is in custody following a Thursday morning shooting in Tuskegee, according to the Tuskegee Police Department.
Responding just before 10 a.m. to reports of a shooting in the 2900 block of Pruitt Court, police and emergency personnel discovered Quandaries Pollard, of Tuskegee, who was pronounced dead at the scene due to a gunshot wound.
Within two hours of the incident, investigators identified and arrested 31-year-old Kareem Washington, also from Tuskegee, as the suspect.
Washington was taken to the Pike County Detention Facility and charged with murder, second-degree possession of marijuana, and tampering with evidence.
Authorities say Washington and Pollard were acquaintances, but the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
The investigation is ongoing, and police have not released further details at this time.
