COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has confirmed the arrest of a Colorado State Patrol trooper on charges of sexual exploitation of a child.
Officers were notified in February by the National Center for Missing and Endangered Children about a person downloading child sexual abuse material from the internet. CSPD investigators traced the suspect to Colorado Springs and identified him as 42-year-old Luke Zellman, a trooper with the Colorado State Patrol.
Following the investigation, Zellman was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail. Zellman joined the Colorado State Patrol in 2014 and was transferred to the Colorado Springs Troop Office in 2017, after initially serving in Steamboat Springs.
The Colorado State Patrol has placed Zellman on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
