In a significant development, Brahmani Tarang police arrested five people on Thursday for the murder of 31-year-old Nil Jojo from West Singhbhum, Jharkhand. The case, initially triggered by the discovery of an unidentified body near a factory dumping yard on June 15, has now been linked to a history of domestic abuse and threats.
The arrested individuals were identified as:
Fulmani Horo (35) – alleged mastermind and sister-in-law of the deceased
Arbind Surin (42)
Bakha alias Mansid Munda (25)
Nirmal Topno (19)
Shunila Munda (27)
Deputy SP Amarendra Sandha informed the media that Nil Jojo’s body was found with head injuries, and blood-stained stones were recovered from the scene near Jiabahal’s Mahavir dumping yard, suggesting a brutal assault.
Nil Jojo had reportedly subjected his wife, Turlen Jojo, to continuous physical and mental abuse since their marriage in 2010. After years of suffering, Turlen and her sister-in-law Fulmani relocated to Rourkela to escape the abuse and started working in a private factory.
However, Nil followed them multiple times and continued issuing threats, the final confrontation occurring when he allegedly arrived intoxicated and verbally abused Fulmani and others in the neighbourhood. This led to a violent altercation, and he was fatally assaulted using concrete stones.
Sub-inspector M R Nayak confirmed the recovery of murder weapons and stated that all five accused have been charged with murder. The investigation is ongoing to determine further details and possible involvement of other individuals.
