KINGSLAND, Ga. —
A Kingsland couple, Nader and Amanda Rayan, has been arrested in Kenner, Louisiana following allegations that they defrauded grieving pet owners through a fraudulent pet cremation business.
The arrests, made Saturday after a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert, are connected to a disturbing investigation into Compassionate Care Pet Crematory Services, the Rayans’ now-infamous Kingsland-based company. According to the Kingsland Police Department, the couple is accused of mishandling animal remains and scamming families out of thousands of dollars.
Becky Morris, a pet owner from Hortense, said she and her husband sent over 25 pets from their farm to the crematory. What they received in return, however, didn’t appear to be real ashes.
“There’s just stickers with names scribbled on it,” Morris said. “Some of them had Ziploc baggies. Three pets didn’t even return.”
Morris estimates that her family lost approximately $10,000, not including the deep emotional impact of the alleged fraud.
Authorities say their investigation, which included a search warrant executed on August 26, revealed evidence of mishandled remains discarded behind the business. Investigators were reportedly shaken by what they found, calling it “one of the most disturbing cases” they’ve seen.
This isn’t the couple’s first legal issue. The Rayans were previously arrested in Florida in 2016 for their involvement in a funeral home fraud scheme, raising further concerns about a pattern of predatory behavior.
The Rayans are now facing multiple fraud charges, and the Kingsland Police are working with other law enforcement agencies to pursue the case further.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities encourage any additional victims to come forward.
