LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) — Nelson County police have charged Jason Wurts, a Taylorsville man, with murder and DUI after a deadly crash that killed his passenger.
The crash occurred on Saturday, June 21, near West Stephen Avenue as Wurts was driving toward Bardstown. Police report that he lost control while attempting a turn and drove off the road.
According to court documents, Wurts’ vehicle crossed two yards before crashing into an occupied home.
Morgan Williamson, the passenger, died as a result of the accident.
A toxicology report revealed that Wurts had a blood alcohol content of .152 at the time. Police say he was driving about 124 mph shortly before the crash, where the speed limit is 35 mph.
Wurts faces multiple charges including murder, DUI, speeding, criminal mischief, and wanton endangerment. His arraignment is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
