HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Hinton woman, Michelle-Lae Norsworthy, was arrested on August 30, 2025, for domestic battery following an unusual tip from an out-of-state witness who overheard the incident online.

According to the Hinton Police Department, officers responded to a domestic violence call at a Fayette Street residence after a man from Albany, Georgia, reported overhearing a disturbance between Norsworthy and her husband through the social platform Discord.

Upon arrival, Officer J.M. Bruce separated the couple and spoke with them individually. The husband stated the argument began over his online activity before Norsworthy allegedly struck him across the face. He confirmed that the Georgia-based witness was on the Discord call and could verify the incident.

Police contacted the witness, who corroborated the victim’s account, stating he distinctly heard the slap during the call. The witness obtained the address from the husband and promptly alerted Summers County 911.

With the statements and evidence, Officer Bruce concluded a domestic battery had occurred. Norsworthy was arrested and charged accordingly.
