In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Buxar Police conducted a series of coordinated raids on Sunday, recovering heroin worth nearly Rs3 crore in the international market and arresting five individuals, including a couple allegedly operating a drug syndicate.

According to Dumraon SDPO Polast Kumar, the first raid took place at Dakshin Tola Nala under Dumraon Police Station. As police teams arrived, suspects attempted to flee. However, with reinforcements, Umesh Rai and his son Golu Rai were arrested. A subsequent search led to the seizure of 73 packets of heroin (5.5 grams) and Rs8,500 in cash.

During questioning, the arrested duo revealed their supplier — Narayan Upadhyay, a resident of Ekauni. Acting swiftly, police raided his residence, where Narayan and his wife Kanchan Devi were apprehended after a failed escape attempt.

A search of their premises led to a massive haul:

2.256 kg of heroin

108 grams of heroin powder

50 grams of heroin found in a vehicle

Two electronic weighing scales

Knives and packaging materials

The couple confessed to running the drug racket together.

Later that day, police arrested Pintu Yadav (alias Vivek Yadav) near Kesath Canal Road following a tip-off. He was caught with:

229.1 grams of heroin

Rs4.3 lakh in cash

100 rubber bands used for drug packaging

He admitted that the cash was part of drug proceeds.
