VICTORIA, Texas — A principal with the Victoria Independent School District (VISD) is facing a driving while intoxicated (DWI) charge after a single-vehicle accident on Sunday night, according to police.
Sarah Young, principal of Rowland Elementary School, was arrested at the scene of the crash on North Navarro Street. Officers say she failed field sobriety tests administered following the accident. No other vehicles were involved.
Authorities have not yet released specific details about what led to the crash or the level of impairment.
In a brief statement, Victoria ISD confirmed it is aware of the incident but declined to comment on disciplinary actions or whether Young has been placed on administrative leave. The district also has not indicated how the arrest may impact her position at the campus.
As of now, Young remains employed with the district, pending further developments in the case.
