The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar police arrested Aditya Kumar alias Anshu, a key member of the notorious exam mafia led by Ravi Bhushan, for his involvement in widespread cheating during the Community Health Officer (CHO) online recruitment tests in Patna.
Aditya Kumar, son of Ramji Prasad from Nalanda district, was found hiding in Patna and apprehended during a raid on February 2. According to DIG Manavjit Singh Dhillon, Aditya conspired with associates, including employees of We Shine Tech Pvt Ltd and various online exam centers, to rig the computer-based tests by placing proxy servers and using remote access software.
The fraudulent activities took place during the December 2024 CHO exam at 12 centers, with three Patna centers severely affected. Following the discovery of these malpractices, the government canceled the exam on December 2.
Investigations revealed the gang’s sophisticated cheating mechanism, including proxy servers and fake IDs, charging candidates Rs 4-5 lakh each. So far, 38 people including aspirants, exam center employees, and IT staff have been arrested. Authorities have seized laptops, desktops, cellphones, fake IDs, and software used for the cheating.
Ravi Bhushan, the gang leader who owns M/C BRANCIZE Technology Pvt Ltd, remains at large. The company had secured a tender for AIIMS Manglagiri recruitment exams, which were postponed due to this scandal. The EOU continues to probe financial trails and identify other gang members.
