SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane motorcyclist has been charged with vehicular homicide following a fatal collision on North Division Street on August 24.

According to a Spokane Police Department affidavit, 27-year-old Dallas Casey Rogers was involved in a crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. near the intersection of North Division Street and East Cleveland Avenue.

Responding officers found the victim lying in the northbound lane with life-threatening injuries. Despite emergency medical efforts, the man was pronounced dead around 9:40 p.m. Rogers, who sustained injuries, was located about 265 feet away on the east sidewalk.

Investigators revealed that Rogers held only a motorcycle instructional permit, not a full license. A GoPro camera found near his motorcycle recorded footage of Rogers traveling at speeds up to 150 mph while weaving through traffic on Interstate 90 before exiting onto North Division Street, where the speed limit is 30 mph.

Surveillance video from a nearby business captured the motorcycle striking the victim, who was crossing in an area where pedestrian access was prohibited. Police cited Rogers’ excessive speed as the primary cause of the crash.

Rogers previously pleaded guilty to reckless driving earlier this year in connection with a 2023 arrest. This history, combined with evidence from the crash, led to the vehicular homicide charge.

At his court appearance, a judge set Rogers’ bond at $50,000 and imposed restrictions including no contact with the victim’s family and limitations on vehicle operation. Rogers was allowed to continue driving for work purposes if permitted by his employer.
