Juan Daniel Benavidez Arrested in Zapata County Raid

Drugs, firearms, and flamethrower seized in search

ZAPATA COUNTY, Texas (KGNS) — A major drug and weapons bust in Siesta Shores led to the arrest of Juan Daniel Benavidez, according to the Zapata County Sheriff’s Office.

On Thursday, September 4, the sheriff’s Narcotics Division, in collaboration with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), executed a search warrant at a home in the 5300 block of Victoria Lane.

During the raid, investigators seized:

4.92 grams of methamphetamine

Several Xanax pills

A rifle

A handgun

A flamethrower

Officials confirmed that both the narcotics and weapons are undergoing further analysis as the investigation continues.

Juan Daniel Benavidez was taken into custody and charged with:

Two counts of possession of a controlled substance

One charge is a second-degree felony

The other is a Class A misdemeanor

Unlawful possession of a firearm

The sheriff’s office noted that the case remains open and active, with additional arrests expected as authorities gather more evidence.
