In Nakhon Si Thammarat, cyber police have arrested Jiang, a 33-year-old Chinese national, accused of leading a massive international scam network. The arrest, based on a warrant issued by Thung Song Court on October 22, 2024, was conducted on November 10 by the Technology Crime Investigation Division 5. Jiang’s operation allegedly targeted individuals in Thailand, China, Russia, and Japan.
Jiang is facing numerous charges, including public fraud, impersonation, membership in a criminal association, fraud or deception, and transnational organized crime. He is also accused of manipulating computer systems with falsified data that caused widespread harm.
The arrest follows a March 2024 operation involving over 100 officers from various Thai authorities, including DSI, Police Region 8, and immigration officials. During the raid, four locations tied to a major Chinese call center gang were searched, resulting in the arrest of 90 individuals, both Thai and foreign. Authorities seized 192 computers, 854 mobile phones, 22 routers, fake SIM cards, and 342 mule bank accounts linked to the operation.
Investigations revealed connections to Ms. Rawadee, also known as “Jae Lek,” a Deputy Mayor in Chandi Municipality, who owned properties rented to the gang. Jiang reportedly managed the transportation of associates from their residence at Chandi Grand Ville village to the Jin Heng Hotel using a vehicle registered in Bangkok.
Jiang is currently held in custody, and tourist police investigators are overseeing further legal proceedings. His arrest highlights Thailand’s commitment to combating organized international cybercrime within its borders.
