ACWORTH, Ga. — Two former Dairy Queen managers in Acworth are facing serious charges after allegedly orchestrating two separate scams that netted them over $44,000, according to Acworth Police.
Investigators say Sherif Mousa and Sherif Awad stole about $27,000 over a four-month period by diverting customer credit card payments into a personal bank account they set up.
“The employees were using a payment terminal and diverting funds from the customers’ transactions to their own bank accounts,” said Sgt. Erik Mistretta with Acworth Police.
But that wasn’t the only scam.
Police say the two men also kept a former employee on the payroll. They allegedly forged his signature on paychecks and cashed them themselves, stealing an additional $17,000.
Combined, the scams amounted to more than $44,000 in stolen funds from the restaurant.
Authorities are continuing to investigate and have not yet confirmed if additional charges will be filed or if other individuals were involved.
