ROME, N.Y. — Shawn E. Westcott, 39, was arrested Wednesday morning after police spotted him riding his ebike in the middle of the road in Rome. When officers attempted to stop him, Westcott fled, leading to a chase and subsequent arrest during which he resisted law enforcement.
Upon searching Westcott, officers discovered quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine, along with a switchblade knife. Westcott now faces multiple charges, including:
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Intent to Sell), a Class B felony
Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, a Class D felony
Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree
Resisting Arrest
Various vehicle and traffic violations
Westcott remains in custody as the investigation continues.
