NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A Nashville woman is facing serious charges after a Saturday night altercation turned deadly in the city’s Fain Street area.
42-year-old Nerika N. Patton has been charged with criminal homicide and unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon in connection to the death of 50-year-old Shereca M. Waters.
According to Metro Police, Patton and Waters were involved in a heated argument outside 87 Fain Street on Saturday night. The confrontation escalated when Waters allegedly punched Patton, who then pulled out a firearm and shot her. Patton fled the scene following the incident.
Waters was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she died from her injuries on Sunday morning.
Police later arrested Patton on South 4th Street. During questioning, she reportedly admitted to throwing the firearm into the Cumberland River, citing her status as a convicted felon from a 2008 robbery case.
Patton is currently being held without bond as she awaits further court proceedings.
